Busy Bees…Care for children 2 -3 years of age

I am provided with an affectionate and supportive environment.  I am gaining independence and am given many opportunities to practice self-help skills.  I participate in active and quiet, large and small group activities.  My teachers are supportive while I am learning to share and take turns and help me clean up my spills and accidents.  I am developing a positive self-image and learning that my actions have consequences.  I am learning to take care of the toys and put them away with a little help.  I have a consistent schedule with smooth transitions.  I am creating a portfolio to show my parents all that I am learning.

Children learn through play.  The room is arranged into the following learning center to promote their development:

Art/Sensory area: Children explore their imagination and creativity and can express their feelings.

Block area:  Learn about mathematical relationships and gain problem solving skills.  Develop socialization and cooperation skills.

Book Corner:  Learn left to right eye movement.  Making connections between spoken and written words and sequences of events.

Table Toys:  Increase small muscle control and hand-eye coordination while reinforcing cognitive concepts.

Gross Motor:  Outside: Improves large muscle coordination and flexibility and releases tension and stress.

Dramatic Play:  Practice role-playing; develop language and social skills, uses creativity and imagination.

Science:  Develop problem-solving skills, learn about the environment, and experiment with cause and effect.

Children are again offered a choice of activities to promote different developmental areas and taken outside to play.  An afternoon snack is served at 2:15pm
